

I never used that IDE because I have gotten away from those. I don’t know if this is the road they are going down but I do know they already have an IDE version of this editor that has a ton of junk attached to it. How awesome is that? This is something that you would expect from an IDE.

The MERN is a scaffolding tool which makes it easy to build apps using Mongo, Express, React and NodeJS. it shows you how to configure the JSON file and debug unit tests among other things. The Angular recipe shows how to use the Debugger for Chrome extension with VS Code to debug an application generated by the Angular CLI. VSC states they are working examples using React, Angular and Docker in VS Code.

They are a repo that has starter templates for a few things. The August 2017 (version 1.16) has come with VS Code recipes.

So why I really decided to write this is because of the update today when I opened the thing up. Brackets, Atom, Coda, Sublime all have those issues. They do not have the right packages or the packages suck and/or crash the program. This is by far the biggest reason that I have given up on every other editor. Guess what? They work! I don’t know if MS is testing these things and there is some kinda process they go through but I haven’t had an issue yet. The intellisense is awesome and to add a package is so damn simple. Visual Studio Code the editor not the IDE, just works. I went back to Brackets for as little while and then even back to Dreamweaver until I found Nirvana. Every time I added a package it either didn’t work or crashed the damn thing. I did like it a lot but there is that package thing again. So VSC has taken over the world! I realized this when listening to a podcast the other day and die-hard Sublime/Atom guys are talking about how much they love VSC and how much better it is! Atom is an Editor I really wanted to use and love. I did because it was so pretty and clean, even now it is still a pretty bitch. I was coming from Dreamweaver and it reminded me of an IDE so I jumped on it. I didn’t realize they were already washed up when I had found it. Another one that has out lived its prime by a few years. I am glad I never paid for that piece of shite. Man is that editor a freaking nightmare to add an extension.The hoopla surrounding that editor has lasted a long time past its actual usefulness. I mean that is awesome and a lot of these features are not even plug-ins! Plug-ins are the main reason I ditched Sublime within just a few weeks. I know they even support Pug and recently have gotten much better using Emmet inside React. I realize there maybe a few that VSC doesn’t cover but probably some languages that are edge cases. In case you haven’t realized, I am talking about a Code Editor covering pretty much any programming language with any amount of popularity. I think even among the paid editors VSC has taken a large portion of that territory. I hadn’t realized until the last week or so how much Visual Studio Code by Microsoft has taken over the Code Editor world. Once you have committed your files to your repository, you can perform a Git push to share your changes with any other collaborators, or in my case, with my phpfog application.Hey man check it out everybody is doing it! You can also commit all changes to the repository rather than individual files by clicking on the branch name, which is usually "master", at the bottom of the SCM sidebar and choose "Commit All Changes". Just enter this path and Coda will be able to commit your changes to your Git repository. The default installation of git, which I did using homebrew, places the binary files in the /usr/local/bin/git directory. To get started, you need to go to the Coda 2 Preferences > Files tab.Īt the bottom of this screen you will notice an input for both SVN and Git SCM tool paths.


Using the interface directly within Coda saves me some time. This has been working really well, but I have been using the command-line interface. I am using a local Git repository for tracking my changes, and then push my changes to phpfog. Switching to this view, you can see a list of pending changes that need to be committed to your repository. This is included as one of the options for your sidebar, and is called the SCM sidebar. The Coda 2 application includes source control management (SCM) within the editor.
